Quattro, Joshua and Katie Borders called their father a “hands on” dad when they nominated him for Father of the Year.
In a letter nominating him, they started with his work as a referee with the Little Dribblers program before he graduated from college and catalogued his service right through to his current work as a YMCA volunteer.

Based on their glowing recommendation, their father was named the Kaufman County YMCA Father of the year Monday.
The children pointed out his work as a YMCA under 10 basketball coach.
“He did this because he wanted to make sure we learned to play sports starting with the basics to make a good foundation, and made sure to include a lot of fun as well as hard work,” his children wrote.
“He also wanted to give other kids a good start in sports as well as a positive experience so they would love sports as much as he does.”
Since 2003, he has served as the Kaufman Lions Club Baseball/Softball Commissioner, a job he also held in the 1990s.
He is immediate past president of the Lions Club, a past member of the Kaufman Park Board and a leader in the First Community Church in Crandall.
He graduated with a degree in radio/tv/film from Texas Christian University and works in the family business.
“We are lucky to have a Dad who cares so much about us and takes such an active role in parenting,” the children ended.
