Trinity Valley Community College President Ron Baugh was a little disappointed in the number of applications the college system received for the president’s job, but not in their quality.
“That is a few less than I was expecting, but the applicants appear to be well-qualified,” Mr. Baugh. “Now we have to begin a serious evaluation of their credentials.”
Mr. Baugh announced earlier this year that he would leave his post in February.
The 36 applications will go to a 15-member committee that will check the information and then rate the candidates.
The ratings will be forwarded to the board of trustees who select candidates to interview and make the final decision.
Several TVCC employees applied, but the majority is from outside the institution and come from Texas and other states.
Mr. Baugh said the committee and board members have a tough task ahead.
“Ranking the applicants is not going to be an easy process. It’s very difficult to rank them without getting to know their personalities. However, you can tell a lot by a resume, including what roles they have played on other campuses,” Mr. Baugh said.
