Scurry-Rosser Superintendent Micheal French said he is pleased with the district’s TAKS passing rate even though there still are areas that need to be improved.
“Since ‘02-‘03 we’ve made progress every single year,” he said. “We’re on the train to success.”
Eighth and ninth grade math caused the greatest problem. In eighth grade, the percentage of students passing math dropped from 80 percent to 64 percent. In ninth, the number passing went up one percent, but still is 58 percent.
Reading/language arts passing rates were high across the board – 90 percent or more passed at all grade levels.
“Overall, we’re very please but we’ve still got room to improve,” Mr. French said.
